Emergency Dermal Solutions, LLC, is a novel medical device startup to improve wound care for burn patients and their providers in the acute phase of injury. The company developed patent-pending pre-formed, anatomically shaped wound care devices to protect both patient and provider alike. Unofficial data shows the following:

  • ~80% reduction in time to dress anatomy with EDS’ devices compared to traditional wraps, thus allowing providers to focus meaningfully on critical anatomy.

Founder Biography

Stuart Buergler is a 15-year paramedic/firefighter that has served in both urban and rural agencies. Stuart invented the Emergency Dermal Kit after responding to a home explosion with a patient he was acquainted with that had suffered extensive burn injuries with airway compromise. Both Stuart and his 40-year-paramedic fire chief were unable to adequately treat the patient’s wounds, temperature loss, fluid loss, physical/emotional pain with the current standards of care due to the airway possibly occluding during their 30-minute transport. Stuart endeavored to invent pre-formed, anatomically shape wound care devices that apply in a fraction the amount of time as traditional wraps, have multiple layers for insulation, higher rates of absorption, and a protected interior lining for sterility. This wound care approach allows providers to isolate and protect compromised flesh while tending to major life threats.
